OCD, Eating & Sleep-Wake Disorders Treatment in Garland, TX & Beyond

Understanding These Conditions
Some mental health conditions don’t always fit neatly into “mood” or “anxiety” categories, but they still have a major impact on daily life. These include Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), eating disorders, and sleep-wake disorders.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Obsessions: unwanted, repeated thoughts that cause distress (e.g., fear of germs, needing things to be “just right”).
- Compulsions: repetitive behaviors or rituals (e.g., handwashing, checking, counting) that temporarily relieve anxiety but interfere with life.
- Impact: feeling trapped in a cycle that consumes hours of your day.
Eating Disorders
- Anorexia Nervosa: extreme restriction of food intake, fear of weight gain, distorted body image.
- Bulimia Nervosa: cycles of binge eating followed by purging (vomiting, laxatives, excessive exercise).
- Binge Eating Disorder: frequent episodes of eating large amounts of food with loss of control, often followed by shame or guilt.
- Impact: low energy, poor health, and disrupted self-esteem.
Sleep-Wake Disorders
- Insomnia: difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early.
- Hypersomnia: excessive daytime sleepiness, trouble staying awake.
- Circadian Rhythm Disorders: sleep schedule out of sync with daily life (e.g., shift work disorder, delayed sleep phase).
- Impact: poor focus, irritability, fatigue, and worsening of anxiety or depression.
If these symptoms are persistent, disruptive, or causing distress, early evaluation and treatment are critical.
